In addition to all of the other experience and clips you can see on this site, I also run a more personal (though 100% public) blog. My 22nd year of life was full of ups and downs, and frankly quite drastic ones at that, so I decided to do year 23 right: by taking inventory of what is really important in my life and prioritizing self-care and self-love. And also keeping a weekly (ish) blog, because it is 2017 and I am a communications scholar.
Apparently it's the millennial thing to do. (Though this is not at all the reason why I'm doing it.)
But me being me, and knowing that I wouldn't stick to it if I wasn't holding myself publicly accountable or if I had little direction, decided to make it a challenge... so in April 2017, I came up with 23 (or almost 23, I've added since I officially started the project) goals: read 23 books, visit 23 new cities, take up running/another exercise that doesn't require a gym membership... etc. All of this is compiled in a blog I call 23 Year of Me (which I promise is not as cheesy as that title makes it sound).
If you want to take a peek at the project, please click here. It's quite a bit of reading material, and I've covered a variety of topics, but – no surprise – many of my articles are travel-related. Topics such as safety, privilege and the travel blues make the cut on a more serious note, but I also have listicles about what I love about living in Europe and what (I think) I'll miss about America, written in an airport while waiting to start my life in Germany (spoiler alert: I still miss Chipotle and free water in restaurants). In roughly 7 months, I'll look back and see a time capsule of the last year in my life... the most exciting year in my life, to date... and that's a pretty amazing thing.
